Chartered Accountant with 35 years of experience in international tax and transfer pricing regulations. The following are the initiatives undertaken on the ESG front:
- Was instrumental in setting up a document on “Tax Footprint for listed companies” which outlines the reporting parameters of various types of taxes and the period in which the same was paid by the companies as part of the ESG reporting mechanism to stakeholders.
- Have undertaken and led study circle meetings with Accountant Bodies on ways in which ESG reporting can enhance transparency and disclosures on the tax front. The focus of such study circle meetings, have been to, increase the scope of reporting of non-financial, material factors such a carbon emissions, workplace racial diversity, gender equality which all have tax implications. The disclosures that were recommended in such meetings was about having a tax strategy and a narrative around that strategy which are aligned to the company’s overall values.
- Have been a regular presenter on topics such as – Green Taxonomy and Social Taxonomy at various Industry and Trade Association Forums.
- Have presented papers concerning Tax at various ESG forums. Topics covered at these presentations include compliance with environmental taxes; changing attitudes to acceptable behaviours in tax; transparent and robust tax governance structures and policies reflecting wider sustainability efforts.
- Member of the Regulatory Sub-group of the Kreston Global ESG Advisory Committee and APAC Regional Committee
