About Maria Howlader

Maria Howlader is the Managing Partner of Howlader Maria & Co., a chartered accountancy firm based in Bangladesh. With over two decades of experience in the fields of assurance, taxation, accounting and finance BPO, Maria provides specialised business advisory services, foreign direct investment (FDI) support, and financial reporting to both local and international clients. Her firm also focuses on business-to-business (B2B) sustainable finance solutions, foreign company formation, and liquidation services. Maria is committed to supporting companies navigating the Bangladesh market, enhancing their business strategy and compliance through tailored advisory and professional services.

Qualifications

Maria is a qualified Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB), where she has held key leadership roles, including Vice President. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Dhaka City College, laying the foundation for her extensive career in finance and audit. Her qualifications extend beyond technical expertise, as she has been actively involved in audit software implementation for CA firms and professional education development within ICAB.

Experience

Maria has over 20 years of experience in the accounting and finance sectors. Prior to founding Howlader Maria & Co. in 2023, she served as CEO for the firm for nearly six years, overseeing its growth into a reputable player in the market. She also held a partner role at EY Bangladesh (A. Qasem & Co.), where she managed due diligence, auditing, and financial analysis projects for local and multinational companies. Alongside her practice, Maria has been actively engaged with the Japan-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry as a board member, furthering cross-border investment opportunities. Her career is marked by significant contributions to strengthening Bangladesh’s audit practice and capacity through ICAB initiatives, including delivering keynotes at national and international seminars.
